wallee Payments for Shopify (v2)

In the last two years, Shopify has made a number of adjustments to how payment processing can be handled via external providers including wallee. In particular, the changes in the context of the introduction of Shopify Payments, now also in Switzerland, have made adjustments to our integration necessary, which we are meeting with "wallee Payments for Shopify" in a new version.

The good news: If you have been using a regular setup of Shopify with wallee so far, you only need to migrate to the new versions in a few clicks - no further adjustments are required.

However, the adjustments that have become necessary have some impact on the functionality. This may impact how you work with "wallee Payments for Shopify". Please take a careful look at the most important changes here. If you have any questions, we are happy to help you personally.

Migration until June 17, 2024 (extended)

expand_more

In order to meet Shopify's current requirements for payment providers, e.g. in the area of API and functionality, we have released a new version of our integrations for Shopify ("Apps"). There is a separate app for each payment method you want to use. Merchants who have previously used wallee for payment processing with Shopify must migrate to the new versions of our integrations (per payment method) by 17.06.2024 at the latest. This can be done in just a few minutes. You can find instructions on how to do this here.

Seamlessly integrated

expand_more

With the new versions of our integrations ("apps"), wallee offers a special highlight: Important payment methods, e.g. card payment, are seamlessly integrated into your Shopify check-out - i.e. your customer is not redirected to an external payment page. Card details can be entered "on-site" in the check-out. This provides an opportunity for higher conversion and high customer satisfaction.

Migration per payment method

expand_more

Please note that there is a single wallee integration ("app") available for each payment method you wish to offer in your check-out. Therefore, please repeat the migration steps for each desired payment method.

Line Items (Single Items)

expand_more

The adjustments required by Shopify for integrations with payment providers also have an impact on the range of functions that wallee can offer you. In particular, it was questionable whether we as a payment provider could continue to process so-called "line items" (information about the individual items). We have now been able to find a solution for this with Shopify:

It is also possible to use line items with the new version of "wallee Payments for Shopify". This allows you to use the usual range of functions (see Line Items & VAT / Line Items & Subscriptions / Line Items & Additional Functions).

Please note: In order to continue using line items, an additional wallee app must be installed in Shopify. Information can be found in the app selection. Only the additional app "w | Line Items" needs to be installed. This is possible with just a few clicks:

Line Items & VAT

expand_more

Tax items are a special form of line items. In order to be able to see the VAT information of your individual transactions in the wallee portal, you need to install the additional wallee app for line items.

New info: Subscriptions

expand_more

As a result of changes in connection with line items, there are also adjustments in the use of subscriptions. Please use the latest version of the wallee Payments for Shopify app. If you are already using subscriptions, the app must be reinstalled once. We will be happy to assist you with this. Please contact our support.

Line Items & Additional Functions

expand_more

If you have previously used additional functions of the wallee portal in connection with line items, e.g. in the context of automated accounting (reconciliation) or invoice dispatch via the wallee portal, the installation of the additional wallee app for line items is necessary. You can find more information in the FAQ above under "Line items (single items)".

Please contact us if you need support.

Pricing report

expand_more

With the new version of "wallee Payments for Shopify" you have for the first time the possibility to rely on our new pricing with wallee All-In-One (only for customers in Switzerland). You can benefit from as little as 1.7% + 0.3% per transaction for many payment methods. We will be happy to advise you.

You would like to use your own acquirers and have negotiated appropriate conditions with them? Of course, this is still possible. For the use of "wallee Payments for Shopify" integrations, we charge 0.3% per transaction.

Important: Existing customers retain their individual conditions & payment terms during migration. Newly added 0.3% / transaction for the use of wallee Payments for Shopify integrations.

Shopify Plus customers

expand_more

These changes primarily affect Shopify regular plan holders. For Shopify Plus customers, there may be differences in functionality and terms. Please contact us. An account manager will get back to you.
